Consul General of Ireland, opens the International Great Hunger Commemoration
Barabara Jones, the Consul General of Ireland, spoke at the opening reception for The Great Hunger Commemoration, which was hosted by The Irish Memorial. In her speech Barbara spoke about how the history of An Gorta Mór helped to focus Irish modern policy on hunger issues both at home and in its foreign policy.
Her speech was followed by a viewing at The Ritz Five of Rebecca Abbott’s documentry: Ireland’s Great Hunger and the Irish Diaspora, after-which a lively Q&A took place between the director, the panel and the audience.
